ঢাকা, ১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৪ : অপতথ্য ও মিথ্যা তথ্য রোধে বাংলাদেশ ও ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন একযোগে কাজ করবে বলে জানিয়েছেন তথ্য ও সম্প্রচার প্রতিমন্ত্রী মোহাম্মদ আলী আরাফাত।
রোববার (১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি) দুপুরে সচিবালয়ে তথ্য ও সম্প্রচার মন্ত্রণালয়ে প্রতিমন্ত্রীর সাথে বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের রাষ্ট্রদূত হোয়াইটলি-এর সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ শেষে সাংবাদিকদের ব্রিফিংকালে এ কথা জানান প্রতিমন্ত্রী। এর আগে প্রতিমন্ত্রীর সাথে তার দপ্তর কক্ষে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের রাষ্ট্রদূত।
এ সময় সাংবাদিকদের প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নেতো বটেই, পুরো বিশ্ব জুড়ে অপতথ্য ও মিথ্যা তথ্য মানুষকে ডিজিটাল ঝুঁকির মধ্যে ফেলেছে। প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে এসব অপতথ্য ও মিথ্যা তথ্য তৈরি ও প্রচার করা হচ্ছে। আগামী কিছু দিনের মধ্যে মানুষকে যে বিষয়গুলো সবচেয়ে বেশি ঝুঁকির মধ্যে ফেলবে তার মধ্যে অপপ্রচার, মিথ্যা তথ্য ও অপতথ্যকে অন্যতম। এ ধারণাটা গোটা বিশ্বজুড়ে আছে। সে জায়গার বাংলাদেশ ও ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন কিভাবে পারস্পারিক সহযোগিতা করতে পারে সে বিষয়ে রাষ্ট্রদূতের সাথে কথা হয়েছে।
প্রতিমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, বাংলাদেশের ব্যাপারে ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়নের সমর্থন, সহযোগিতা, অংশীদারিত্বের বিষয়েও কথা হয়েছে। অপতথ্য ও মিথ্যা তথ্য কিভাবে অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক ব্যবস্থার মাধ্যমে চিহ্নিত করতে পারি সে বিষয়ে কথা হয়েছে।
ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন কী ধরনের সহযোগিতা করবে সাংবাদিকদের এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, ধারণা বিনিময় করা, প্রযুক্তিগত সহযোগিতা থাকবে।
গোটা বিশ্ব জুড়ে বিভিন্ন যুদ্ধ-বিগ্রহের কারণে সাংবাদিকদের ঝুঁকির মধ্যে পড়ার বিষয়ে ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূতের সাথে আলাপ হয়েছে উল্লেখ করে এ সময় প্রতিমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, বৈশ্বিক প্রেক্ষাপটে সাংবাদিকদের নিরাপত্তা ও স্বাধীনতার বিষয়ে ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূতের সাথে আলোচনা হয়েছে। ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূত এ বিষয়ে ইউরোপে বিভিন্ন ধরণের চ্যালেঞ্জের কথা বলেছেন। আমাদের দেশে আরও কোথায় উন্নতি করতে পারি, কোথায় কোথায় আমাদের সুযোগ আছে এ বিষয়গুলো নিয়ে তার সাথে আলাপ হয়েছে।
তিনি আরও বলেন, গণমাধ্যমের বিস্তৃতি উদার করতে গিয়ে গণমাধ্যমে বিশৃঙ্খলা প্রবেশ করেছে বলে পেশাদার সাংবাদিকরা বলছেন। সরকার সাংবাদিকতা, গণমাধ্যমের জায়গা, রাজনীতির ক্ষেত্রে সবজায়গায় একটা স্বাস্থ্যকর পরিবেশ চায়। গণতন্ত্র মানে আইনের শাসনও। গণতন্ত্র মানে সবকিছুর স্বাধীনতা আছে এবং আইনের শাসন হলো আমি কী কী করতে পারি না। দুটি বিষয়ের একটি চমৎকার ভারসাম্য খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
তিনি যোগ করেন, আমরা অবশ্যই অপতথ্য প্রতিরোধ করতে চাই কিন্তু মতপ্রকাশের অবাধ স্বাধীনতা এবং গণমাধ্যমের অবারিত স্বাধীনতার জায়গা কোনভাবেই সংকুচিত করে নয়। দুটোই একইসাথে আমাদের করতে হবে। দেশে এবং বাইরে এ বিষয়ে আমরা নৈতিকভাবে একমত আছি। সেখানে একসাথে আরও পথ খুঁজে বের করার ব্যাপারে ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূতের সাথে আলোচনা হয়েছে।
সাংবাদিকদের অপর এক প্রশ্নের উত্তরে প্রতিমন্ত্রী এসময় আরও বলেন, অপতথ্যের দ্বারা আমরা সকলেই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত। অপতথ্যের কারণে পশ্চিমারাও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত, আমরাও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত। এটা কিভাবে সবাই মিলে মোকাবিলা করা যায় সে বিষয়ে ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূতের সাথে আলোচনা হয়েছে। ইইউ এ সংক্রান্ত আইনগত বিষয় ও ধারণাগত বিষয় আমাদের সাথে বিনিময় করবে এবং এ বিষয়ে প্রযুক্তিগত সহযোগিতা করবে।
প্রতিমন্ত্রীর সাথে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ শেষে ইইউ রাষ্ট্রদূত চার্লস হোয়াইটলি সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, তিনি প্রতিমন্ত্রীর সাথে অপতথ্যের বিষয়ে বিশেষভাবে আলোচনা করেছেন কারণ সমস্যাটি বিশ্বজুড়ে সমাধান করা হচ্ছে এবং ইইউও এই বিষয়ে কাজ করছে।
